Room to keep learning

Through my 30 years as a hairstylist, cosmetology educator and trichology specialist, I have continued to study, ask questions and build on what experience has taught me. I want to share that commitment to learning with other beauty professionals, especially those who are newer to the field and still finding their professional direction.

My goal is to make continued learning more approachable. I want students to have room to ask questions, revisit a concept and understand how it connects to their work. They should be able to grow beyond the steps of a hairstyle and develop a deeper understanding of hair, the scalp and the person they are serving.

Understanding that supports responsible practice

For me, deeper knowledge begins with observing carefully and asking thoughtful questions. It helps us explain what we can offer, document what we observe, provide education within our professional role and recognize when a concern calls for referral to a qualified healthcare professional.

My approach to holistic education includes respectful attention to everyday habits and well-being alongside hair and scalp knowledge. I want that learning grounded in evidence, honest communication and clear professional boundaries. This is nonmedical education: it does not authorize diagnosis, prescribing, medical treatment or services beyond a student’s lawful scope of practice.

A more manageable path to professional growth

I also know that time and cost matter when someone is deciding how to continue their education. I created the CITHHP professional-development program around online study, structured lessons, practical resources and instructor guidance. The pilot’s published payment schedule is intended to make tuition easier to plan for, while each student considers what fits their responsibilities and budget.

This professional-development pathway is separate from our supplemental theory tutoring. Cosmetology, Barber and Master Haircare Specialist theory tutoring is for students already enrolled in a state board-approved program. It reinforces what they are learning at their own school and does not award clock hours, academic credit or hours toward licensure.

Knowledge worth passing on

Journe Legacy Institute brings my years of experience, continued study and teaching into a place where that knowledge can be shared with purpose. I want students to keep asking good questions, care about the quality of their work and carry a habit of responsible learning forward. That is the legacy I hope to build through this Institute.
